What Saatva is good at

Saatva launched in 2010 selling one mattress by mail, at a time when everyone else was compressing foam into cartons. It kept the innerspring and kept the delivery truck, and that decision still defines the brand: Saatva mattresses arrive fully expanded, are carried to your bedroom, and the old bed is taken away.

The construction argument is coil-on-coil. A layer of individually pocketed comfort coils sits on a base of tempered steel support coils, which is more expensive than foam-on-coil and is the main reason Saatva beds hold their shape under heavier sleepers better than most hybrids we have measured.

The trade-offs are weight and motion transfer. A Queen Classic weighs about 115 lb and is not a one-person job to move, and springs transmit movement across the bed in a way foam does not. Couples where one person wakes easily should read our motion-transfer numbers carefully before ordering.
