How it feels
Classic memory foam, slightly firmer than the base Nectar. You press into it and it yields over about four seconds rather than instantly, then holds the shape. If you like the feeling of being held by the bed, this is that feeling at a price no hybrid can match.
If you dislike it, you will dislike it on night one and no amount of adjustment will help. This is the most polarising feel in our test set.
Motion isolation
The best figure we have ever recorded, and it is not close. A 10 lb weight dropped from 12 inches at the centre of the bed produced an accelerometer reading at the far edge that was inside the noise floor of the instrument — meaning we could not distinguish it from the building's own vibration.
For a couple where one person's movement is the problem, nothing else on this site competes. It is the single reason the Nectar Premier is on the site at all.
Temperature
+3.4°F over eight hours, which is the best all-foam figure we have measured and still worse than every hybrid we recommend. The phase-change cover is doing real work — the base Nectar without it recorded 5.1°F in the same conditions — but it is mitigating a structural problem rather than solving one.
Support
7.6, the lowest score of any mattress we still recommend. It is adequate for sleepers up to about 230 lb and marginal above that. Our 240 lb tester recorded 2.6 inches of hip sink and reported lower-back stiffness by the second week.
Year-two sag on the unit we bought in 2024 is already 0.5 inches under regular use by our heaviest tester, which is the fastest degradation in our records.
Edge support
6.9, the weakest figure in our test set. The perimeter compressed 2.4 inches at ten minutes seated and kept creeping. On a Queen shared by two people, that is a meaningful loss of usable width.
If you both sleep near the edges, this is a real cost of the price.
Value
9.2. At a Queen price that is frequently under $1,000, with a 365-night trial and a lifetime limited warranty, the Nectar Premier is a lot of mattress for the money — provided you are buying it for the thing it is good at.
Who should buy it
Couples under about 230 lb each where one person wakes at every movement, side sleepers on a tight budget, and anyone who has slept well on memory foam before and simply wants a good version of it cheaply.
Everyone else — and particularly anyone who sleeps hot or weighs over 230 lb — should read the the best mattresses under $1,200 guide and spend the extra $300 on a hybrid.
