Which one we would buy
The Saatva Classic takes it for most buyers, on the strength of the trial period, the included white-glove delivery, and a marginally better balance of pressure relief against support. Its coil-on-coil core is the reason it scores 9.6 where the WinkBeds scores 9.4, and it is the one we recommend first for back pain.
The WinkBeds is the better mattress in two specific situations. Above about 250 lb it holds its shape better — 1.1 inches of hip sink against 1.3 — and its edge support is the best we have measured, which matters if you sit on the perimeter to dress. It is also $200 cheaper for a Queen.
Neither is a good choice for a couple where one person wakes easily. Both are coil-heavy and both carry motion across the bed; the Saatva scores 7.9 and the WinkBeds 7.6, which is the difference between bad and slightly worse.
Choose the Saatva Classic if
You want the mattress carried in and set up, you want a year to decide, or you want the best lumbar support we have measured.
Choose the WinkBeds Luxury Firm if
You weigh over 250 lb, you need usable edges, or you want to save $200 and do not mind unboxing it yourself.
Buy the Saatva Classic
